Top Domain Keywords
Explore the search phrases associated with a whole website, including the pages that appear for those searches.
The tool opens in your Kwordia account. Dotted links explain terms in the glossary.
Before you begin
Top Domain Keywords helps you understand a website’s presence in search. It can show the kinds of subjects a competitor is found for, or help you review the wider coverage of your own site. Here, “domain” means the website name, such as example.com.
Open Keywords and choose Top Domain Keywords. Have the website name ready. If your question concerns a single article or product page, use Page Keywords instead.
Using this page, step by step
- Enter the website name in Target Domain. Use the domain of the site you want to investigate rather than a search phrase about the business.
- Choose the country you are interested in and review the other available settings. Read the estimate before submitting.
- Read the keyword rows together with their associated pages. This helps you distinguish phrases covered by product pages from those covered by articles or other content.
- Choose a page or subject worth investigating. You can move to Page Keywords for a closer look at one page, or SERP Analysis to inspect a particular search phrase.
A worked example
Suppose a competing outdoor shop appears for both boot-shopping phrases and questions about caring for boots. Looking at the associated URLs can reveal whether it uses separate advice articles to answer those questions. That gives you a practical line of enquiry: what useful advice could your own customers need?
Understanding what you see
This is a view of the ranking records available for the website and selected market. It does not reveal the competitor’s private analytics or every search phrase it has ever appeared for.
Estimated traffic is useful for comparison, but it is not a measured visitor count. Keep the same market when comparing websites, and focus on the relevance of the phrases as well as their size.
Common questions and problems
For an empty result, check the spelling and country. A small or recently launched site may not have much information in the available records.
If you pasted the address of a specific article, decide whether you want the whole website or just that page. Page Keywords is the clearer choice for the latter.
